Phones and televisions are the two situations hearing aid users ask about most. A few simple techniques make a noticeable difference.
Phone
Hold the phone towards the hearing aid's microphone rather than the ear canal — on many models the microphone sits above the ear. Speakerphone also often improves clarity.
Bluetooth hearing aids receive audio directly — the call is heard inside the device.
Television
Instead of raising the volume, try switching on subtitles — many people find this helps more than expected. Dedicated TV transmitters also exist: they send sound straight to the hearing aid.
Fitting helps
If difficulty with phone or TV persists, mention it at your follow-up — the settings can be adapted for these situations.
